The Care Earth Team conducted a Tree Appreciation Walk on the Earth day which is 22nd April 2015. The walk started outside the Central Polytechnic College (CPT), OMR. A group of enthusiasts joined the walk.
After brief introductions, Mr. Muthu Karthick took over the role as the coordinator of the program. During the walk several trees were pointed out with their scientific names. The most common tree sighted was the Rain tree which was also in flowering season. Several other common species recorded were Neem, Banyan, Jamun, Palm tree, Ilandhai, Tamarind and Gum tree. A total of 23 species were recorded which is a high value compared to the location that is center of Chennai. The overall feeling of getting one with nature was felt in the morning.
